OTP Senior Business Analyst (18-month secondment/FTC)

The OTP Senior Analyst is responsible for leading the execution of operational transfer pricing calculations for individual marketing companies using the OTP tool. Processes within scope include price setting, in-year adjustments (Q2 and Q4 retrospective reviews), and annual true-up activities. Markets in scope are primarily within the EMEA region, with additional support provided to LATAM and APAC markets as required.
The role reports to the OTP Process Lead, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Marketing Companies Lead (located in a different geography), all are jointly accountable for delivery of marketing company transfer price positions in accordance with the agreed OTP calendar with Group Tax. The OTP Senior Analyst applies knowledge of local market tax conditions and Group Transfer Pricing policy to perform calculations in OTP tool or via manual templates for markets managed outside the system.
The role requires direct collaboration with Group Tax and Market Controllers to review and align on proposed transfer pricing positions, facilitating discussions and ensuring agreement between all parties. A strong understanding of AstraZeneca Transfer Pricing policy is required to ensure all calculations and outcomes are compliant with Group Tax requirements.
A solid understanding of financial statements is essential, including the ability to interpret actuals and forecast P&L positions and assess the impact of transfer pricing calculations.
Key Activities and Relationships
- Partnering with the Marketing Companies Lead to define the annual marketing company OTP calendar in line with Group Tax requirements.
- Communicating with Market Controllers and GFS Analysts to ensure understanding and execution of Group Tax instructions for transfer pricing cycles.
- Reviewing local market transfer pricing positions in collaboration with Group Tax.
- Facilitating alignment discussions between Group Tax and Market Controllers to agree on transfer pricing positions.
- Following up with Market Controllers and CFOs to obtain formal sign-off.
- Working with Market Controllers and Genpact to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and price updates.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing annual price setting for markets in scope (OTP and manual).
- Executing in-year adjustments, including Q2 and Q4 forecast adjustments.
- Performing the annual true-up for all markets in scope.
- Sourcing statutory adjustments from GFS Market Analysts and Controllers for input into OTP.
- Supporting ad hoc transfer pricing requests.
- Maintaining and updating local market dossiers outlining the application of Group Transfer Pricing policy.
- Providing additional support to other operational transfer pricing activities as required, including hub recharges, central service recharges, Patent Box, and R&D processes.
Typical Accountabilities
- OTP system execution: Developing expert-level system knowledge to independently execute processes for all markets in scope.
- Preparation of segmented P&Ls: Understanding the structure of the AZ P&L and its interaction with sales, marketing, and distribution processes.
- Stakeholder management: Managing stakeholder relationships across planning, data gathering, analysis, review, approval, and ad hoc inquiry stages.
- Change management: Supporting the OTP Process Lead with new requirements arising from policy updates, business changes, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Training and documentation: Ensuring robust documentation is in place to support consistent execution of the marketing company OTP process.

- OTP Process Lead and Marketing Companies Lead – overall accountable for the marketing company process.
- Group Tax OTP Team – ensuring compliance with AstraZeneca Transfer Pricing policy.
- Market Controllers and GFS Analysts – supporting dossier updates, statutory adjustments, and approval of transfer pricing positions.
- System Accountant – support for source data and system calculation queries.
- Suppliers’ OPS Team – Support for transfer price updates and coordination between Market Controllers and other supply chain stakeholders.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong financial accounting knowledge and business acumen.
- Proven experience in P&L cost allocation, planning, or operational transfer pricing.
- Experience working with complex, integrated systems and large datasets.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience operating in a regulated environment.
- Ability to collaborate and deliver effectively in a virtual and global context.
- Experience with Hyperion PBCS / Planning, Smart View, or equivalent tools.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in a global organization with geographically diverse operations.
- Pharmaceutical industry knowledge or broader business domain awareness.
- Operational transfer pricing execution experience.
- Tax technical transfer pricing policy expertise.
- Product costing experience.
