The OT Engineer reports to the Regional OT Lead based in Hamburg

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage and support offshore technicians and relevant operations departments
  • Liaise between OT, IT, marine coordination, operational teams, OEMs, and grid operators for seamless collaboration.
  • Communicate system status, risks, and improvement opportunities to management.
  • Monitor service status and coordinate maintenance, updates, upgrades, and replacements.
  • Independently diagnose and troubleshoot faults, coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and third parties.
  • Prepare root cause analyses for SCADA and OT infrastructure failures and propose technical solutions.
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot offshore data centers, PLCs, and control systems.
  • Conduct daily system health checks, troubleshoot outages, and document resolutions.
  • Standardize, monitor, and improve predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation on systems and processes.
  • Maintain accurate asset records and documentation to support audits and lifecycle management.
  • Implement changes and projects in line with internal standards and practices.
  • Assist in creating work scopes, bid packages, and oversee plant outages.
  • Interact with contractors to ensure project scopes are completed as scheduled.
  • Assist in developing project schedules in alignment with operations and maintenance departments.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers and maintain awareness of major vendor documentation systems and OEM processes.
  • Work according to ITIL, ISMS, and ISO 27001 standards.
  • Uphold health and safety values on windfarm and office sites.
  • Adhere to offshore energy legislation, environmental requirements, and grid codes.
  • Abide by IT/OT security policies and ISMS protocols, ensuring compliance with global and local standards.
  • Follow industry best practices for installing, configuring, and maintaining OT hardware, systems, and networks for wind assets.
  • Support technological development of the OT landscape and best practices at Northland.
  • Provide OT expertise to new projects within the Northland Group.
  • Required to participate in schedule on-call rotation and travel in northern Germany and work on-site offshore based on business need.

Qualifications and experience:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or experience as an OT Engineer with several years of professional experience.
  • Sound knowledge and several years of experience in OT & Scada systems
  • Experience in network operations is desirable
  • A thorough understanding of how to perform all job requirements in a safe manner, in compliance with all local acts and regulations, so as not to endanger themselves, fellow workers or site equipment.
  • A strong desire to “do what it takes” to ensure the reliability and availability of the facility with ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays as dictated by plant schedules. The ability to travel may also be required.
  • Proven troubleshooting and fault isolation skills
  • Practical experience with SCADA systems and automatization development

(Bachmann solutions, EcoSui and Zenon)

  • The ability to install, troubleshoot and maintain all manner of equipment typical to a generation facility.
  • Logical understanding of OT environments
  • Experience in working in Critical Infrastructure regulated environment
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) and maintenance management software packages.
  • Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
