Role Overview
We are looking for Core OS engineers and developers with expertise in graphics stack and kernel to work across Intel's Client and Server platforms running Windows OS to enable next generation hardware and software technologies and ensuring industry leading performance, efficiency, and reliability amid the growing complexity and performance sensitivity of modern workloads, including gaming, AI assisted new use cases, and heterogeneous compute (CPU/GPU/NPU).

Rapid advances in AI, heterogeneous computing (CPU/GPU/NPU), cloud infrastructure, continued focus on security technologies and modern workloads are reshaping platform requirements. These shifts place new demands on operating systems, runtimes, drivers, and firmware, and require close collaboration across hardware, OS, and ecosystem partners.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of Windows OS internals, system software, and platform architecture, helping bring up new silicon, enable new accelerators, and optimize real world workloads across client and datacenter environments.

What You'll Do

  • Enable and optimize new platform capabilities in Windows across client and server systems, from pre silicon through production

  • Drive performance analysis and optimization across OS, drivers, runtimes, and system services

  • Set technical direction and architecture for OS level enablement of new silicon features.

  • Influence platform and product decisions across organizations, working effectively with silicon architects, firmware teams, compiler/runtime teams, and Microsoft partners.

  • Analyze and resolve complex system level performance issues spanning CPU, memory, IO, power, and scheduling

  • Support new silicon bring up, OS power on, and early platform readiness

  • Work with internal and external partners to validate performance using benchmarks, workloads, and real world use cases

  • Contribute to long term platform strategy by identifying performance headwinds and opportunities across evolving workloads (AI, cloud, virtualization, gaming, productivity, security)

  • Mentor junior engineers, scaling impact through technical leadership, design reviews, and coaching

  • Raises the overall technical bar of the organization by establishing standards, sharing deep expertise, and modeling strong engineering judgment

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience with one or more of the following programming languages: C/C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with graphics stack (ex. Windows OS kernel)
  • Experience with object oriented programming, data structures or algorithms
  • Experience with computer architecture or operating systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field
  • Intel x86/x64 architecture and related platform technologies
  • Software optimization, debugging, and performance tools
  • Multithreaded programming patterns and libraries
  • Windows operating systems and concepts
  • Advanced troubleshooting of computer setup and Windows OS boot issues
  • Background in modern CPU/NPU/GPU architectures, security technologies, runtimes, and compiler code generation

Business group:

The Software Team drives customer value by enabling differentiated experiences through leadership AI technologies and foundational software stacks, products, and services. The group is responsible for developing the holistic strategy for client and data center software in collaboration with OSVs, ISVs, developers, partners and OEMs. The group delivers specialized NPU IP to enable the AI PC and GPU IP to support all of Intel's market segments. The group also has HW and SW engineering experts responsible for delivering IP, SOCs, runtimes, and platforms to support the CPU and GPU/accelerator roadmap, inclusive of integrated and discrete graphics.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $149,600.00-284,580.00 USD

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Work Model for this Role
