What you will do as an Orthoptist:

Our Orthoptist team diagnoses and treats disorders of the visual system, particularly binocular vision and amblyopia. Under supervision of the Ophthalmologist, our Orthoptists tests eye muscles and prescribes treatments for eye misalignment and amblyopia to children and adult patients.

  • We work collaboratively with physicians, fellows and residents in the diagnosis and treatment plan for patients of all ages, as well as working independently to manage patient care as directed by an Ophthalmologist.
  • We discuss treatment plans with the patients/parents of patients in a way that is easily understood - explaining surgical and non-surgical options.
  • Our team is committed to educating the next generation of eye care professionals. We help develop skills of medical fellows and residents, update, create and deliver lesson content for our specialty and check Orthoptic work.
  • We seek out opportunities to present and to teach at a national level through membership in professional organizations.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science related area with one year of post-graduate training
  • Eligibility for Certified Orthoptist Certification (Orthoptic certification and ACCO membership preferred)
  • Post graduate training: satisfactory completion of 24 months of orthoptic training in an AOC accredited program. Experience working with children and adults with vision problems
  • Knowledge of retinoscopy, Lensometry, sensorimotor exams, prism application, lecturing and research papers and articles
  • Proven ocular motility diagnosis and co-management

Hours: .6 FTE, 24 hours per week

Compensation:

73,653.00 - 106,808.00 USD Annual
