Job Description

Position Summary:

The Director, Order to Cash – EMEA leads the strategy and execution of Credit and Collections across the EMEA region within Global Business Services (GBS). This role is accountable for operating model design, service delivery, digital enablement, and continuous improvement across 90+ legal entities, supporting ~60,000 customers and ~$5B+ annual cash collections. Leading a team of 100+ colleagues across Paisley and Budapest (with planned growth), the Director partners with senior business leaders to deliver a scalable, technology-enabled shared services model that improves customer experience, strengthens controls, and drives productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence & Customer Experience
    • Deliver consistent service performance across EMEA Credit & Collections, balancing efficiency, risk management, and customer experience.
    • Define and execute a best-in-class, end-to-end Order to Cash strategy leveraging automation, analytics, and digital tools.
    • Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and control frameworks to ensure compliance, transparency, and measurable outcomes.
    • Partner with business unit and finance leaders to continuously enhance service value and stakeholder experience.
  • Talent management:

    • Develop leadership capability, succession plans, and career pathways to support long-term growth.
  • Continuous improvement and productivity:
    • Lead process standardization and optimization, embedding Thermo Fisher’s PPI Business System.
    • Advance automation, data analytics, AI-driven insights, and other enabling technologies to improve cash flow, reduce risk, and increase productivity.
    • Use data to generate actionable insights, challenge legacy practices, and prioritize high-impact improvements.
    • Collaborate globally to scale best practices and deliver sustainable operational efficiencies.
  • Financials:
    • Deliver against Annual Operating Plan commitments, including productivity and cost targets.
    • Drive year-over-year efficiency through process improvement and digital transformation initiatives.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Significant leadership experience in shared services, Order to Cash, or credit management within a complex, global organization.
  • Proven expertise in multi-country Credit & Collections operations.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success implementing end-to-end, technology-enabled process improvements.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and cost management.
  • Ability to leverage data and analytics to inform decisions and improve performance.
  • Skilled at influencing across diverse stakeholder groups and leading through change.
  • High integrity and sound judgment when managing confidential information.
