Job Summary

Position responsible for preparing patients and the environment prior to surgery for the medical and nurse team. The position requires the teamwork, collaboration and good communication skills.

**OR Attendant, Full-time Monday through Friday 11:00 am - 7:30 pm
**One year of previous experience in the operating room required.
**Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
**Will be responsible for maintenance of the unit, stocking supplies and preparing the rooms for the next case.
**This position is located in the Orthopedic OR at Memorial City Hospital.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or  GED (preferred)

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Minimum one (1)  year experience in an operating room environment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and read and write English
  • Ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Principal  Accountabilities

  • Assists with physical preparation of patient and physical environment prior to surgery according to the age/needs of the patient/population served; transports and transfers patients as necessary.
  • Functions as a porter between departments ensuring required medical supplies, information, specimens, and products are delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
