Total Annual Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 ($8-$10 per pt.)

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and patient-focused Optometric Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will assist optometrists with vision exams and eye health assessments for patients in skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clinical providers while supporting the early detection and management of vision conditions in a geriatric population.

Responsibilities

  • Assist optometrists with comprehensive eye exams and vision testing
  • Perform preliminary testing, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and autorefractor measurements
  • Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort
  • Administer basic diagnostic tests such as visual field testing and retinal imaging
  • Accurately document patient history, test results, and clinical findings
  • Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment in compliance with safety and infection control standards
  • Support eyeglass fittings, adjustments, and patient education as needed
  • Collaborate with optometrists, advanced practice providers, and facility staff
  • Travel to skilled nursing and long-term care facilities as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an Optometric Technician or Ophthalmic Technician training program preferred
  • Certification (e.g., CPO, ABO) preferred but not required
  • Prior experience in optometry or ophthalmology strongly preferred
  • Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and technical proficiency
  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills
  • Comfortable working with the geriatric population
  • Ability to travel as needed
