Heidelberg Materials

Optimisation Specialist x 3

Pinkenba, QLD Full time

At Heidelberg Materials Australia, we are redefining how our aggregates and recycling operations perform. Our National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre in Brisbane is designed to provide real-time visibility, sharper decision-making and stronger operational outcomes across multiple sites.

We are now seeking three Optimisation Specialists to join the Centre, working a rotating roster including night shift. This is where operational performance meets live data, and where quick thinking makes a measurable difference.

The Opportunity

From our centralised operations centre, you will drive optimised performance across connected quarry and recycling sites. You will remotely monitor fixed plant operations, mobile plant performance, production planning and critical operational assets, providing live support to site teams when it matters most.

This is not a passive monitoring role. It is active, responsive and hands-on. You will influence production outcomes across several geographic locations from a single hub, supporting safe, efficient and consistent execution around the clock.

If you thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy being the calm voice in the control room at 2am, you will feel right at home.

In order for you to gain a full understanding of our sites, there will be occasional travel to these sites. You’ll get to know the people on site, so you have a strong working relationship with them and understand what they do each and every day on site.

What You Will Drive

As an Optimisation Specialist, you will:

  • Monitor and provide immediate, live operational support to site operators and supervisors
  • Analyse production data and KPIs to identify trends, inefficiencies and opportunities, sharing insights with subject matter experts and taking action where required
  • Support planning and scheduling by providing data-driven recommendations to optimise resource allocation and shift plans
  • Ensure site teams complete planning activities, support planning tools and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Oversee production across multiple locations from a centralised operations centre
  • Continuously monitor equipment status, plant performance parameters and alarms to ensure operations remain within specification
  • Identify and troubleshoot process and equipment issues in real time, collaborating with plant teams and AROC colleagues to minimise downtime
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately while maintaining operational stability
  • Support safe and efficient plant operation in line with established procedures and protocols
  • Capture best practices and lessons learned to strengthen our national optimisation knowledge base

About You

You are results-oriented with a bias for action. When you see an issue, you do not wait for someone else to own it. You think broadly, analyse carefully and act decisively.

You are process-driven and consistent in execution. You communicate clearly and confidently, influencing without formal authority and building trust with operators, supervisors and technical specialists alike.

You bring energy, resilience and flexibility, particularly when working rotating shifts. You understand that performance does not stop when the sun goes down.

Experience & Capability

  • Sound understanding of mining operations and mobile heavy equipment
  • Strong knowledge of fixed plant processes, application and yield
  • Ability to interpret operational data and convert it into practical insights
  • Experience working in environments where safety, uptime and production targets are critical
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to positively influence internal stakeholders
  • Advanced critical thinking and analytical capability coupled with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Confidence in troubleshooting, prioritising and making timely decisions

Why Join the Remote Optimisation Centre

The National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre represents a step change in how we operate. It brings together technology, expertise and operational discipline to create a smarter, more connected quarry network.

As one of three Optimisation Specialists, you will play a key role in shaping this new way of working. You will influence multiple sites, support frontline teams and contribute directly to national performance outcomes.

At Heidelberg Materials Australia, we are building smarter operations for a stronger future.

If you are ready to be part of the engine room that keeps it all moving, we would like to hear from you.
