Are you passionate about optimizing production lines and driving test performance excellence? Ciena is seeking an Optical Test Engineer to join our Components & Plug organization. Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, this role is critical for sustaining and enhancing production operations, driving yield improvements, and implementing innovative solutions for test optimization.

How You Will Contribute

  • Perform pareto analysis and apply statistical process control to resolve manufacturing and test issues.
  • Oversee manufacturing operations to identify and improve operator handling, test efficiency, and hardware selection.
  • Develop and share tools and instructions to automate processes across products.
  • Drive continuous improvement for product yields, test time, and cost reduction.
  • Enhance fault isolation and troubleshooting tools for engineers and operators.
  • Support production scaling activities, including GR&R, optimization, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Assist CM teams with failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective action implementation.

The Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of optical concepts (e.g., insertion loss, polarization).
  • Experience with optical component test methodologies and hardware.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, including schematics and board files.
  • Programming experience (MATLAB preferred; C# or Python).
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing) and proficient in Thai language.

Nice to Haves

  • Database and data analysis tool expertise.
  • Technical familiarity with testing and manufacturing processes for InP and SiPhot optical components or similar high-tech environments.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
  • Collaborative team player with cross-functional communication skills.
