As an Operative Purchaser, you will play an important role in securing a smooth and efficient supply flow to our production. You will work with both direct and indirect procurement and be a key contributor to ensuring timely deliveries, with high quality, and a competitive supply chain.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating, administering, and following up on purchase orders. You will actively monitor delivery performance and handle re‑scheduling when needed, in close collaboration with both suppliers and our internal procurement organization.

You will work cross‑functionally together with colleagues in Strategic Procurement, Planning, and Supplier Quality, where teamwork and communication are essential. Together, you will contribute to developing and strengthening our supply chain to meet high demands on performance, quality, and reliability.

The position is based at a facility operating within the defence sector and owned by Saab. This means the role requires a high level of professionalism, integrity, and strict compliance with Saab’s internal processes, policies, and Supplier Code of Conduct.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Place and administer purchase orders in the procurement system
• Follow up on deliveries and ensure timely receipt
• Manage order confirmations and resolve any discrepancies
• Work closely with internal teams to understand their requirements and ensure timely supply
• Identify and recommend opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
• Participate in supplier evaluations and performance reviews

Become a direct contributor to the Nations security by joining as the Operative Purchaser for our Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon manufacturing facility at Jhajjar, and  with your colleagues and management team, build this role to meet future demands.
 

Your profile

We are looking for a structured and responsible person who enjoys working in a dynamic environment with many interfaces. You are proactive, solution‑oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of your tasks while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. As collaboration is a key part of the role, you are communicative and enjoy working closely with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. You have a professional mindset, a strong sense of integrity, and thrive in an environment where processes, quality, and compliance are important.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role working with Procurement, preferably within the defence or aerospace industry
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in using ERP systems (preferably IFS)
• Knowledge of procurement processes and industry best practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Fluency in English and Hindi (both written and spoken)
   

Desirable skills:

• Basic knowledge of contract law and commercial awareness
• Experience with risk management in procurement
• Familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies
• Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the defence and aerospace industry

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection.
