Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Operations/Systems Engineer based out of Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor, Silverdale, WA.
The position will interface with civilian government customers, associated DOD contractors, and the US Navy to provide on-site technical support during operational events. The selected candidate will support the launcher subsystem of the Strategic Weapons System onboard OHIO and COLUMBIA class submarines and associated underwater launcher network.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Provide guidance and training to personnel on launcher subsystem functionality, operation, operating procedures, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Provide guidance and training to personnel on associated Support Equipment, functionality, operation, operating procedures, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action.
Review procedural documentation and drawings for accuracy and implementation.
Advise Operations Supervisor of problem areas and provide recommended solutions & corrective action.
Prepare status reports and daily log entries of tasks/tests/repairs accomplished.
Diversity in knowledge of technical disciplines (mechanical, electrical, materials, and systems engineering) and related Fleet Ballistic Missile/Strategic Weapons System experience is a plus.
Provide Field Support at the Explosive Handling Wharf(s) during ordnance handling events and launcher subsystem maintenance periods.
Support Trident Refit Facility Weapons Repair Shop during submarine refit periods.
Provide technical training and facility/equipment upkeep support at the Trident Training Facility.
Support SSGN Major Maintenance Periods and SSBN Extended Refit Periods.
Support Naval Magazine Indian Island during Tomahawk handling evolutions as an on-site technical representative.
Support Advanced Launcher Programs working with design teams and supporting field installation and test activities.
Qualified candidates should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
This role requires occasional travel, estimated at approximately 10% of your time, to provide on-site technical support and other support as directed.
This role includes shift work as required to support fleet operations.

Basic Qualifications Operations/Systems Engineer:
BS degree in Engineering, or related technical degree (STEM degree), with 5 years of related industry engineering work experience; 3 years with a master's degree of related industry engineering work experience.
Experience with analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and systems engineering approach/thinking and mindset.
Experience with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Experience in direct contact with multiple customers and associated contractors.
Experience with timely and accurate reporting.
Experience implementing local and corporate safety policies.
Ability to obtain DOD Secret Clearance.
US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications Operations/Systems Engineer:
Experience in the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program as well as with the OHIO Class Trident II D5 Missile Strategic Weapon System (SWS), its Launcher Subsystem, and related Launcher Support Equipment.
Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
