Operations Support Summer Intern

Richland, WA Part time

This position is based in Richland, WA and requires on-site work.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Support Summer Intern provides administrative and coordination support to several key organizational groups, including Emergency Preparedness, Security Operations, Security Services, Continuous Improvement, Operations Support New Nuclear, Corporate Functional Area Managers, and the Operations Support General Manager. This role offers broad exposure to operational functions and cross‑department collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support daily administrative tasks and department coordination.
  • Prepare meeting rooms, materials, and basic logistical needs.
  • Assist with calendars, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Help with packet assembly, printing, and inventory activities.
  • Provide general support for events, drills, and cross‑functional initiatives.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a business or related academic program.

  • Strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to work across teams.

  • Professional attitude and willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provide administrative support for the designated organization based on assigned projects. Assigned projects will be in the area of business practices in support of the department. This position will be directly accountable to assigned department staff and will support assigned project related activities and initiatives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Support assigned routine department activities
- Support project-related activities within the department
- Support emergent related work or assignments

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Requires current part to full time enrollment status, or a recent graduate, in a bachelor’s or higher degree program at an accredited college or university. Area of study must be in an administrative field related to the assigned role.

  • Target hire is a student at a Junior or Senior status level at the time the internship commences. Students earlier in their college experience will be considered, along with recent graduates (within six months of graduation).

  • Must maintain a minimum 2.8 cumulative G.P.A. unless approved by

  • Human Resources. A High School diploma/GED is required.

PAY RANGE

Pay is based on academic level:

Freshman Salary: $19.31 per hour

Sophomore Salary: $19.31 per hour

Junior Salary: $20.35 per hour

Senior Salary: $24.10 per hour

BENEFITS

Temporary employees may be required to participate in the Washington State Pension Plan (PERS) and may also be eligible to enroll in medical insurance if the duration and hours worked requirements are met. Temporary employees accrue paid time off that is available to use after 90 days of employment.
