Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities 

• Follow all workplace and job safety procedures 

• Supervise, train and coach employee to accomplish safety, productivity, quality and efficiency objectives 

• Responsible for shift schedule to include workstation assignment/rotations, employee training, vacation, breaks, overtime assignments, and back up for absent employees 

• Coordinate vessel loading during loading process, conduct shift meetings and communicate with third party vendors including ship captain and third-party inspectors 

• Identify and help resolve operational challenges including corrective action and troubleshooting to improve reliability of equipment, escalate issues promptly for proper resolution 

• Operate mobile equipment including inside the storage domes and on vessels 

• Troubleshoot basic control systems and be familiar with basic machinery functions.  

• Perform housekeeping audits 

• Communicate to Operations team, escalating issues as necessary 

• Other related duties as assigned and serve as backup resource when needed 

Required Qualifications 

• Supervisor experience or equivalent experience at port operation 

• Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required 

• Excellent communication skills 

• Ability to independently manage priorities and schedule to meet deadlines. 

• Able to obtain a TWIC 

 

Preferred Qualifications  

• High School Diploma or GED 

• At least 2 years, or more, of supervisory experience 

• Previous experience at Port/Maritime industry 

 

Working Conditions 

• Must be able to work in outdoor environment and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees 

• Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment 

• Work includes high places more than 175 feet, use main lifts and work in confined spaces 

• Willing and able to maintain a strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment 

• Available to work evenings, weekends, and overnight to address unexpected site issues with or without notice 

 

Physical Requirements 

• Able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and crawling and pulling for up to twelve (12) hours per day 

• Able to work in high places more than 175 feet, use man lifts and work in confined spaces 

• Able to work around moving equipment and machinery 

• Able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs 

• Able to safety and successfully perform and essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards 

 

Travel Requirements 

• This position may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis for training or other work-related assignments.
