Operations Supervisor

We are looking for an Operations Supervisor to support the safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of bus services at our Gillingham depot.
This is a key role within the depot, acting as the first point of contact for drivers during daily operations. You will help ensure services run smoothly, manage operational issues as they arise, and support drivers to deliver excellent service to our customers.
You’ll work closely with drivers, engineering teams and depot management to ensure our network operates safely, efficiently and in line with Arriva’s high standards.
What you’ll be doing
As an Operations Supervisor, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the depot. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the daily operation of bus services, ensuring all duties are covered
Acting as the first point of contact for drivers during operational shifts
Allocating drivers and vehicles to services and managing resource requirements
Responding to operational incidents such as collisions, passenger incidents or traffic disruptions
Monitoring service performance and recording lost mileage
Working with Engineering teams to ensure vehicle availability
Investigating customer complaints and supporting service improvements
Ensuring Health & Safety standards are maintained across the depot and network
Supporting driver attendance, performance and development
Maintaining accurate operational and payroll records
Promoting a positive culture of safety, inclusion and teamwork
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who can stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly and support drivers to deliver the best possible service.
You’ll ideally have:
Experience in a supervisory or operational role
Strong communication and people management skills
Good IT skills and attention to detail
A customer-focused mindset
The ability to make decisions and solve problems quickly
Knowledge of Health & Safety standards
Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment
Knowledge of the PCV or transport industry (desirable)
Experience working with Trade Unions (desirable)
A First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one
You should also be organized, resilient and flexible, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy operational environment.
