This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the performance, safety, and coordination of our truck drivers, forklift operators, and dockhands across the depot. This is a FT Permanent role, Monday to Friday (8am Starts).

You will be at the centre of daily operations—ensuring freight moves efficiently from dock to delivery, routes are executed effectively, and teams are supported, engaged, and held accountable to high standards. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced transport environment, can make real-time decisions, and is confident managing people, performance, and operational outcomes simultaneously.

With a strong focus on safety, service delivery, and team leadership, you’ll play a critical role in driving depot performance while fostering a positive and disciplined workplace culture.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and supervise a team of truck drivers, forklift operators, and dockhands, ensuring clear direction, accountability, and performance alignment
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of PUD operations, including dispatch, route allocation, load planning, and delivery performance
  • Oversee inbound and outbound freight handling, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with operational procedures
  • Actively monitor driver and handler productivity, addressing performance gaps through coaching, support, and corrective action where required
  • Champion a strong safety culture by enforcing Chain of Responsibility (CoR), WHS policies, and safe work practices across all activities
  • Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks, and ongoing communication to keep teams informed, engaged, and aligned
  • Coordinate fleet utilisation and ensure vehicles and equipment are used effectively and reported for maintenance when required
  • Respond to and resolve operational issues in real time, including delays, service disruptions, and resourcing challenges
  • Collaborate with internal staff and management to ensure seamless end-to-end operations
  • Ensure compliance with scanning, freight tracking, and system processes to maintain data integrity and visibility
  • Support workforce planning, including rostering, leave management, and labour allocation to meet operational demands

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in transport and logistics (both FCL & LCL freight) is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience managing frontline operational staff in a similar environment
  • Strong understanding of load restraint, fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and WHS requirements
  • Ability to lead from the front—confident working on the floor, engaging directly with drivers and handlers, and setting the standard for performance
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and manage a diverse workforce
  • Solid problem-solving capability, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure in a time-critical environment
  • Experience with transport management systems, scanning processes, and operational reporting
  • Organisational and planning skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines and service KPIs
  • A genuine focus on safety, team culture, and operational excellence
