Summary:

Operations Manager is responsible for the performance and achievement of targets in the operations area, implementing action plans to adapt and optimize available resources (technical, human, and financial) to meet sales and customer service needs with quality, deadlines, and profitability. This role is accountable for creating and leading the strategic plan for the operations area, developing goals, strategies, and action plans focused on productivity, operational excellence, capacity maximization, quality assurance, cost management, and fostering a strong culture of safety and sustainability.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Continuously seeks cost reduction and improvement of quality indicators by implementing plans and fostering the development of a quality culture within the team.
  • Manage team performance through work plan definition, training, recognition, and evaluation, ensuring appropriate responses to role objectives and maintaining constant feedback.
  • Studies and develop new production processes to ensure better quality and higher productivity.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the economic aspects of manufacturing orders regarding labor and material consumption, aiming to identify opportunities or alternatives for cost reduction.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises production activities within established specifications and quality standards to ensure the company’s commercial objectives are met.
  • Implements, monitors, and evaluates predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs to minimize operational downtime caused by functional failures or equipment breakdowns.
  • Maintains product quality levels within customer-required standards by monitoring quality indicators and implementing preventive or corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  • Manages the work team by selecting, guiding, training, monitoring performance, evaluating results, enforcing organizational procedures and safety standards, scheduling vacations, and handling other personnel management matters.
  • Promotes integration of all industrial functions to manufacture high-quality, low-cost products within customer requirements and time constraints.
  • Oversee EH&S-related activities to ensure compliance with legal requirements and corporate standards, as well as safeguarding company assets.
  • Prepares and controls the investment and expense plan for the area in alignment with the company’s business plan.
  • Ensures maintenance and improvement of the implemented quality system by planning and monitoring internal audits to maintain certification and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Controls general industrial expenses (electricity, maintenance costs, supplies, etc.) to contribute to cost reduction.
  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to the Responsible Care® Program and related issues (health and safety—occupational, process, logistics—environmental protection, product stewardship, and asset protection).
  • Promotes and values the Responsible Care® Program and encourages employee engagement.
  • Advocates for the dissemination of the Responsible Care® Program and related health, safety, and environmental topics throughout the value chain and among stakeholders.
  • Comply with all regulatory and internal EHS and Quality requirements.
  • Responsible for developing and managing the annual and five-year Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) plan, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Accountable for monitoring and controlling monthly operating expenses to ensure alignment with business targets and financial objectives.
  • Drive the Continuous Improvement (CI) strategy at the site, ensuring alignment with the global CI strategy.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Production, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.   
  • Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience, plus at least 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience 
  • Fluent in English. 
  • Strong skills in people and process management. 

The following are preferred for the role

  • Leadership experience in chemical industrial processes will be strongly considered. 
  • Experience with techniques for planning predictive and preventive maintenance. 
  • Knowledge of financial processes and economic evaluation. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Experience in Safety, Health, and Environmental processes. 
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001). 
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification 
  • MBA in Business Management or related fields
