POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Manager collaborates with all departments within the company to establish and maintain an orderly Operations workflow, solid communication and safe processes while upholding quality standards as set forth by internal and external regulatory and legislative parties.  The OM ensures transparency, compliance and cooperation throughout the business in-house as well as with customers, vendors and other external parties.  The OM develops, manages, and reports on Operations objectives and targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Emphasize the importance of safety and quality compliance with direct reports, and build it into the culture with direct reports and colleagues within all departments

  • Monitor workload and reassign tasks to ensure processes are efficient and effective

  • Conduct annual performance appraisals

  • Hire and terminate direct reports in conjunction with Director of Operations and Human Resources

  • Oversee and approve direct report expenses, vacation requests and overtime

  • Ensure appropriate general training for direct reports

  • Development of direct reports, identify when additional training and follow up is needed, and takes action to ensure comprehension and compliance

  • Permanent member of the JHSC

  • Responsible for ensuring the warehouse facility, vehicles, lab & plant equipment are in compliance with DuBois Health and Safety Standards, along with applicable legislation and regulations

  • Ensure appropriate safety training for direct reports

  • Ensure appropriate programs for monitoring plant equipment PM are implemented and followed

  • Design, develop streamline and implement processes to ensure compliance with stated operations objectives and targets to ensure processes are effective and efficient

  • Manage the implementation of new and modified processes

  • Ensure company management system documentation is updated to reflect all changes in these processes

  • Develop, manage and report on operations objectives and targets

  • Report to the director on the performance of operations processes

  • Analyze business processes and economics, establish and maintain a suitable monitoring system for invoicing approval and daily operations

  • Select and manage carriers that perform work on DuBois assets

  • Monitor inventory control

  • Oversee the CC/RA process to ensure problems are resolved in an effective and efficient manner

  • Oversee CAR process to ensure systemic problems are effectively resolved, action is taken to prevent recurrence and follow up activities are conducted to ensure corrective action are effectively implemented

  • Manage Continuing Improvement process to ensure efforts are managed according to propriety, are in line with company goals and objectives and are effectively implemented

  • Attend CMC and CRC meetings, manage corrective action and continual improvement activities as needed from the Quality Manager, resulting from the quality management system review 

  • Assist in any Root Cause Analysis / CAPA / follow up relating to investigations performed by Quality Manager, Demand Delivery Supervisor, or DuBois employee

  • Provide functional guidance/leadership to the organization in all areas of responsibility and provide strategic counsel to the Director as required on related matters

  • Perform other such duties or tasks assigned by Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A minimum of 5 - 7 years previous experience in Logistics, Warehouse Management, Supply Chain or in a similar role.  Experience managing/supervising subordinates is required.

  • Previous experience with a chemical manufacturer or dealing with chemical products

  • Strong leadership, communication & interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with all business units

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in Operations Management, Business, Science or an similar degree - an equivalent level of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
