We are seeking a seasoned Operations Manager to lead our heavy civil construction projects from groundbreaking to completion. In this role, you will be the primary driver of project success, responsible for developing comprehensive plans, managing multi-million dollar budgets, and ensuring that our infrastructure projects meet the highest standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who excels at resource optimization and stakeholder communication.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Oversee all aspects of heavy civil projects, ensuring completion on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed project plans and schedules; monitor lifecycle adherence and implement corrective actions to stay on track.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to align on project objectives.
- Resource Management: Strategically allocate labor, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity and project performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous safety protocols and ensure 100% compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Quality Control: Conduct frequent site inspections to maintain quality standards and proactively identify technical risks or bottlenecks.
- Reporting: Prepare and present performance metrics and progress reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Team Development: Foster a collaborative, positive site culture that promotes teamwork and high performance.
- Innovation: Stay current with industry trends, emerging construction technologies, and best practices to improve operational efficiency
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience specifically in heavy civil construction management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, or MS Project) and a deep understanding of civil construction techniques.
- Leadership: Strong ability to motivate diverse teams and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously under pressure.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate conversations with both field crews and executive stakeholders.
- Certification: PMP or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) credentials are a significant plus
- Requirements for compliance with CMMC, Level 2, FAR and CAS Standards
Working Conditions
- Location – This position will work out of our Utah office. Subsequent projects will be nationally based.
- Travel Requirements – 50% travel to project sites and office locations
- Construction site environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
