  • Pay: $100,000 - $115,000.00 per year

  • Travel: 25-35%

The Operations Engineer supports GM&T's Biogas OTF Plant Operations by leading projects for improving the efficiency and operations of the existing plant sites.

Job Description

  • Optimize and support Air Liquide Biogas facilities with a focus on safety and reliability. Comply with regulatory requirements, lead projects, manage designs and costs effectively, and develop personal skills and competencies in regards to Plant Operations, Processes and Equipment. 

  • Demonstrate leadership in process and operational safety at all times and demand that of others, including plant personnel, visitors, and contractors. 

  • Define, design, specify, control costs and implement projects intended to improve safety, efficiency, reliability and/or profitability 

  • Recommend changes in process to effect greatest economy in production methods, manpower utilization and material cost. 

  • Evaluate plant equipment and processes, and recommend design modifications to maximize operational effectiveness. Set up and conduct tests of complete units under operational conditions and analyzes test results in relation to design specifications, modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications. 

  • Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility. 

  • Provide technical support for plant production and operations, as required. 

  • Audit, revise and create procedures for technical plant processes and operational policies. 

  • Keep plant hazard analysis current, and display a thorough knowledge of possible hazards and associated safeguards. Make plant and process recommendations/decisions, and perform process troubleshooting. 

  • Partner with the Engineering Group to execute predictive and preventive maintenance to eliminate catastrophic failures and minimize unplanned maintenance. 

  • Adhere to Management of Change procedure 

  • Other duties, as assigned, in support of growing the US Biogas business

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

  • 3+ years plant operations or engineering experience in a production environment 

  • Experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting engineering issues within a plant operations environment Proven “hands-on” process knowledge, and mechanical equipment knowledge/ability 

  • Ability to effectively use Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides. 

  • Strong command of English, verbal and written 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of industrial gases and gas handling/processing equipment 

  • Experience with environmental compliance reporting and/or product quality management

  • Experience in environmental sustainability industry such as biogas, renewable energy or waste treatment. General understanding of accounting principles and working knowledge of plant operating budget Ability to interact effectively with all levels in an organization 

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision 

  • Effective communication and leadership skills 

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel. 

  • Working knowledge of commercial agreements and customer relations
