Operations Analyst

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for an Operations Analyst at our Tilden Mine site. This role is responsible for contributing to the team by providing technical and statistical analysis of site performance and recommending actions for improvement. Our ideal candidate will be able to access and merge data from multiple sources and transform it into a usable and easily understood format.  Employees in this role are expected to be hard-working, self-driven, and goal oriented. 

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis required to understand business performance at the site, department and section level. 
  • Assist in the development and updating of site and department operating strategies.
  • Use analytic tools such as (Excel, Powerpoint, Power BI, Business Objects, etc) to gather data, summarize, and design reports to best identify trends for use in decision making. 
  • Assist managers with analysis and reporting on team performance and so they can provide appropriate and timely feedback.   
  • Provide analysis to support the embedding process upon project completion.
  • Assist staff by retrieving and analyzing data from available databases. Transform data into graphical or descriptive statistics as requested.
  • Provide support for the layered review meetings including the preparation, repair, updating, or creation of graphs and charts as necessary.
  • Understand key cost and production drivers, within the control of employees in the applicable department, and identify and communicate opportunities to reduce costs or increase production.
  • Understand and implement the elements of the Cleveland-Cliffs’ Maintenance Process/Operations Standards (MPS) and the General Repair Improvement Process (GRIP).
  • Provide data analysis and reports to the safety and environmental teams to identify and mitigate compliance risk.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and lead work safely. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  


Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-year degree in a technical field from an accredited educational institution or combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in heavy industry or mining/mineral processing operations. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of analytical software.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
