As Operational Risk Manager you will be part of the global Operational Risk Management team. This team consists of various dedicated teams covering activities across all our business units. Furthermore, you’ll be closely working with colleagues in Portfolio Risk Management, Risk Control, Model Validation and IT Risk.

Your core activities will include managing risk events, overseeing timely follow up and closure of issues and actions and engaging with the business on a wide variety of risk-related topics. As you will be part of a second-line function, your understanding of the business will be fundamental in being able to advise on risk mitigation efforts. Collaboration with stakeholders ensures consistent risk management practices and continuous improvement in processes and reporting.

In this role you will report to the Lead Operational Risk Manager of the Continental Europe domain. Our asset management strategies in this domain include a variety of alternative fixed income, multi-asset, equity and fixed income funds. The client base within Continental Europe mainly consists of Dutch institutional investors.

Responsibilities:

In Risk Management, a wide variety of topics will come across your desk. Within your role you’ll be responsible for:

• Acting as advisor to business units, providing expert consultation on risk events, root-cause analysis, and mitigation strategies.
• Engaging in fruitful business relationships with account managers supporting the client management activities.
• Providing input to local operational risk reporting to senior management, boards, and risk committees.
• Promoting a strong risk culture across the organization through training, communication, and leadership.
• Collaborating with global and local stakeholders to ensure consistent application of risk management practices.
• Driving continuous improvement in risk processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
• Contributing and leading local risk initiatives in collaboration with the European Risk and other risk teams.

Expectations:

As Operational Risk Manager we expect you to have a proactive unbiased working approach, a strong hands-on drive and sense of responsibility. Having professional certifications (e.g. FRM, PRM, CFA, CRMA) is a plus. Furthermore, you:

• Have 3-5 years experience in operational risk management within the investment management or financial services industry;
• Hold a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field;
• Are proficient in Dutch and English;
• Have experience working in a global business environment;
• Have experience in working on complex risk events, issues and change programs;
• Are accurate, structured and have a well-organized way of working;
• Are outspoken, unbiased and willing to take ownership of topics you’re not familiar with;
• Are able to distinguish facts from noise and have an eye for detail;
• Have a good sense of humor;
• Are willing to work in our Schiphol office. There is flexibility to partly work from home part or occasionally at the office in Groningen.
