We are looking for an Operational Engineer I who will:
The Operational Engineer I is responsible for partnering closely with the Software Development teams to ensure software output is operationally sound before releasing the software into a production environment. Operational Engineer I prepare software for installation by running diagnostic tests and monitoring/configuring the software as needed during the testing cycle to ensure minimal impact as software is released into the production environment. This role ensures that all systems and equipment are running efficiently, effectively, and safely to support the organization's objectives.
Proactively monitor, maintain, and optimize F5 LTM/GTM appliances and related software systems to ensure consistent reliability and optimalperformance.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents and technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to reducerecurrence.
Analyze system and traffic performance data to identify trends and recommend infrastructure or configuration improvements.
Develop, maintain, and deploy automation scripts and tools to streamline operational workflows and support the software development lifecycle —bringing a builder mindset to create solutions that remove manual toil and enhance system reliability.
Identify gaps or inefficiencies in processes and design creative solutions to drive operational excellence.
Collaborate closely with application, network, and platform teams on installation, configuration, upgrades, and day-to-day operation of business-critical applications.
Participate in capacity planning and scaling activities to meet growing business demands.
Mentor and train junior operational engineers, sharing best practices and encouraging them to adopt a proactive, improvement-focused mindset.
Maintain accurate documentation related to system configurations, operational procedures, and incident resolution.
Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.
2+ years of related experience as an Operational Engineer.
Solid experience supporting and administering F5 LTM and GTM (BIG-IP) environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills in complex, distributed network and application environments.
Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, or Bash).
Proficiency in scripting languages such as .NET,C#, Python.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps.
A builder mentality: motivated by solving problems at their root, designing tools and processes to make systems better, and leaving things in a betterstate than you found them.
Familiarity with monitoring tools and interpreting performance metrics.
Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills to work across technical teams.
Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving technologies.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in a business environment.
