Position Summary:

The Department of Finance in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track position open rank Professor of Real Estate and Finance, beginning Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.  The department seeks a seasoned or early-career scholar with a proven record of research, teaching, and professional engagement in real estate and finance, with expertise in real estate finance, real estate investment, and related areas of financial economics. The department is especially interested in candidates whose work reflects proficiency with AI-related research in real estate and finance and who can translate this expertise into scholarship, curricular innovation, and external visibility.  Professional work experience in some area of real estate is preferred.  The candidate is expected to actively engage in outreach and partnership efforts with industry, alumni, and the broader business community. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach real estate and finance courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including MBA, MSF, and PhD programs, as well as executive programs.
  • Maintain an active program of research and publications appropriate for maintaining AACSB Scholarly Academic qualifications at an R1 institution, as classified by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
  • Participate in appropriate service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
  • Emphasis will be placed on producing scholarly research in top-tier, peer-reviewed real estate and finance journals.
  • Emphasis will be placed on working with real estate professionals and developing industry collaborations and partnerships. 

The College is highly supportive of research and provides access to a wide range of databases via WRDS, including Audit Analytics, BoardEx, Compustat, CRSP, Execucomp, IBES, OTC Markets, Thomson/Refinitiv. The department offers both a BBA and a BS in Finance at the undergraduate level, along with required courses and electives in the MBA program, an MSF program, and an active Ph.D. program. Faculty also participate in the Executive Ph.D. program by teaching and supervising dissertations. The department has over 700 students in the BBA and BS program, approximately 40 MBA and MSF students (each), and 15 doctoral students. The department’s active doctoral program typically provides faculty access to doctoral student research assistants.

Minimum Qualifications:

• An earned doctorate in finance or real estate, or closely related field from a university with AACSB or similar business accreditation.
• An established/emerging research record which includes real estate research along with traditional finance research.
• Expertise in topics such as REITs, real estate capital markets, real estate investment, AI and machine learning applications in real estate and finance, along with mainstream finance topics.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching as instructor of record at an accredited (AACSB or similar) university.
• Strong quantitative skills (Python, R, SAS, Stata, or similar) and expertise in current empirical finance methods and databases used in real estate and finance research.
• Certification or experience in online teaching is preferred.

Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
