Job Description

  • Responsibilities include optimization and support of complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems
  • Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with a focus on trend analysis and documentation of results
  • Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application-related issues
  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades, or support issues
  • Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
  • The Federal System Technologist (FST) is responsible for taking on other duties assigned by their manager to include assistance with LMR installations/repairs/removals on official government vehicles.  

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges
  • Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Strong self-management skills and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with Motorola's customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams.
  • Self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision.
  • Ability to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills and must also have high sense of urgency, strong work ethic and is results oriented.
  • The role involves a significant amount of administrative work, including completing close-out packages, processing documentation, and maintaining accurate project records. Strong reading and writing skills in English are mandatory for this position. Bilingual ability is a plus, but all documentation and communication must be completed in proficient English.
  • Associates degree/related technical certificate or 1+ years of networking, IT, or electronics experience.

Candidate Requirements:

  • The role requires year-round on-call availability. While after-hours calls are not expected on a daily basis, occasional calls may arise and must be responded to when needed.
  • Able to commute to Davie, FL Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% - 30% of the time within the designated territory for project-based work.
  • Valid driver's license with no traffic violations.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required; employer work permit sponsorship is not available.
  • Associate degree or related technical certification, OR 1+ years of experience in networking, IT, electronics, or automotive electrical systems.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Basic Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military experience.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)
