Onsite Associate, Lab Services

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Onsite Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Waltham, MA, with a future relocation to Cambridge, MA mid 2026.

Shift: Mon – Fri, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Hourly Range: $21.00 - $24.50

What we’re looking for  

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required  

  • Experience: 1+ years of prior work experience required, experience in material handling.

  • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred.   

  • Able to lift 50lbs required

  • Spend a majority of the day standing and walking, role requirements are to be able to bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull.

  • Maintain a professional, safe, and clean work environment.

  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external teams.

  • Pushing of wheeled carts stocked with items throughout the facility over long distances as well as in difficult-to-navigate spaces.

How you will thrive and create an impact  

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

Manage In-Lab Inventory

  • Oversee all common consumables and chemicals

  • Check and replenish items daily

  • Perform cycle counts of centrally stocked items

Track and Improve Processes

  • Maintain daily data and metrics

  • Drive continuous improvements based on collected data

Procurement and Ordering

  • Order frequently used items

  • Coordinate same-day delivery for lab consumables and common items (e.g., dry ice, compressed gas cylinders, LN₂ tank dewars)

  • Support chemical ordering, barcoding, tracking, and disposal

  • Reduce and repurpose overstock

  • Identify viable substitutions during supply chain disruptions

  • Align with Procurement on cost-saving initiatives

Lab Support Services

  • Autoclaving and glass washing

  • Glassware pick-up and stocking

  • Maintain airlock areas

  • Prepare and distribute reagents, buffers, media, distilled water, and ethanol
