Job Description:

Position: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, Augusta
Schedule: Part-time (32 hours/week)

Shift:  Days (M-F), no weekends, no holidays

The Role: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

The Oncology RN will provide comprehensive care to patients with cancer, administering treatments, managing symptoms, and offering emotional support to patients and their families.

What You'll Do:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Evaluates the needs of the patient and/or family and provides support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Collaborates, as needed, across disciplines to coordinate appropriate patient services. Effectively delegates to ancillary personnel. May precept nursing students or new hires.
  • Executes the plan of care for the oncology patient, including medication administration and symptom management. Communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Treatment Room Responsibilities:

  • Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments
  • Perform lab-related duties, including blood draws, port access, and IV initiation
  • Triage patient needs and prioritize care accordingly
  • Work closely with the oncology care team to ensure safe and effective treatment delivery

Your Qualifications:

  • Active Maine RN licensure (or ability to obtain in a timely manner) is required
  • Prior Oncology RN experience, preferred
  • Chemotherapy certification, preferred
  • Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and ability to work with
