Oncology Practice Development Nurse

GenesisCare is seeking an experienced and passionate oncology nursing professional to join our team as a Practice Development Nurse.

 

This is a permanent part‑time position (3 days per week), operating in a centralised capacity supporting multiple centres across NSW. While there is flexibility in the primary work location, applicants must be NSW‑based, as the role requires regular on‑site presence across various centres.

The primary purpose of the Practice Development Nurse (PDN) is to conduct, coordinate and evaluate education, training, and ongoing professional development activities of the nursing workforce.

This role is primarily non-clinical (supernumerary) but may be required to support clinically as deemed necessary by the Director of Nursing or state-based leadership team.

  • Evidence-based best practice, implementation, research, and evaluation

 

More specifically, you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to Directors of Nursing and Centre Leaders to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based oncology nursing care.

  • Lead the development and delivery of nursing education programs, including onboarding, competency development and ongoing professional training aligned with the national nursing development framework.

  • Mentor and support nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional growth and clinical excellence.

  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to identify learning needs and implement targeted development strategies across the nursing workforce.

  • Drive quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives, supporting compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.

  • Maintain accurate education, competency and professional development records while monitoring training outcomes and key performance indicators.

 

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • Eligible for unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

  • Post graduate qualification in cancer care nursing, clinical education or similar

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a nurse in the oncology setting

  • Exemplary interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills

  • Possess the skills and experience for positive performance management in the staff development domain

  • Proven ability to coordinate workload to maximise skills of staff
