Summary:
As an Oncology Nurse Clinical Educator within the Nursing Professional Development, Practice, and Research Department, this role supports the professional growth, clinical competence, and excellence of nursing staff across the organization. The Oncology Nurse Clinical Educator serves as an expert educator, consultant, and clinical leader, providing orientation and ongoing education to promote high‑quality, evidence‑based oncology nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promotes the professional development of nursing personnel through orientation and ongoing education
- Serves as an expert educator and consultant to nursing staff and leadership
- Assesses learning needs and plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates educational programs
- Designs and delivers educational interventions that support staff growth and high‑quality oncology patient care
- Leads nursing quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with unit managers
- Manages and oversees clinical competency assessment processes
- Identifies, integrates, and applies evidence‑based nursing practice and research into education and clinical care
- Participates in patient care activities as needed to maintain clinical competence
- Serves as a role model, patient advocate, change agent, and nursing leader
- Applies advanced expertise to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing process
- Collaborates with nursing leadership and managers to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical care
- Develops and delivers unit‑specific education based on identified needs

The starting annual salary for this position is $127,429 which includes a comprehensive benefit package. The listed salary reflects the potential compensation for this role. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
License and Certification Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
Accepted board certification(s) as recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s
Demographic Data Collection Tool (DDCT).
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Education and Experience
1. Master’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time clinical nursing experience within the past five (5) years, including education, preceptor or previous teaching experience; or
2. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time clinical nursing experience within the past five (5) years, including education, preceptor or previous teaching experience
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree, along with prior experience in ambulatory and/or inpatient oncology, as well as nursing education.
