What we need
We are searching for a highly capable On-Site Project Manager to lead the execution of Symbotic’s advanced warehouse automation systems at customer locations. This role partners with design, engineering, supply chain, installation, commissioning, testing, operations, finance, suppliers, and customer teams to ensure successful delivery of complex technical projects.
Your primary responsibility will be to drive alignment across teams, execute plans with discipline, manage risks and issues proactively, and maintain crisp, consistent communication with all stakeholders. This is a highly visible role that interacts regularly with customer leadership and Symbotic executive management. You will be the on-site leader who ensures automation systems are installed, integrated, and accepted safely, on schedule, and to specification.

The Project Execution team plays a mission-critical role in transforming Symbotic’s robotic and software-driven designs into fully operational automation systems. We manage projects from initial planning and site readiness through installation, commissioning, integration, testing, and system acceptance.
As the central connection point between technical teams, external partners, and customer stakeholders, we create clarity, drive accountability, and safeguard project outcomes. Our work ensures every Symbotic system is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest engineering and operational standards—providing measurable value to the business and our clients.
What you’ll do
Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring delivery against cost, schedule, scope, and quality objectives.
Manage all phases of the implementation lifecycle, including site preparation, installation, commissioning, integration, testing, and system acceptance.
Develop, maintain, and control detailed project schedules, procedures, workflows, and documentation.
Serve as the primary onsite communication conduit between the customer, EPCs, subcontractors, and Symbotic’s internal engineering and operations teams.
Coordinate daily activities across installation, commissioning, software, testing, and engineering groups to ensure seamless execution.
Facilitate cross-functional meetings and provide clear, consistent status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Identify, track, and mitigate project risks; escalate and resolve issues that impact technical readiness, schedule, or system performance.
Monitor field progress to ensure compliance with engineering requirements, installation standards, and safety protocols.
Conduct earned value analysis and prepare schedule and cost performance reports for leadership and customer teams.
Investigate, document, and address schedule variances and cost deviations; implement recovery or corrective action plans as needed.
Lead weekly progress meetings and maintain alignment across all project partners.
Drive continuous improvement efforts, refining processes, communication models, and execution standards across the implementation lifecycle.
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience in construction, automation, material handling, robotics, or similar technical environments.
Strong background in project scheduling, critical path analysis, scope management, and cost control.
Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera, or comparable project scheduling tools.
Experience with earned value management (EVM) and other project control methodologies.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, engineering documentation, and installation plans.
Demonstrated ability to manage broad stakeholder groups, including engineering, operations, customer leadership, EPC partners, and subcontractors.
Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, gather data, evaluate options, and drive solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting clear and concise updates to both technical and executive audiences.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
Ability to travel up to 60%, including extended site assignments ranging from 6 to 24 months.
Ability to travel between the U.S. and Mexico for project support, training, and cross-functional coordination.
Our Environment
This is a remote, travel-based position requiring up to 60% travel at times. The role will involve being assigned to a customer site for extended periods — typically 6 to 24 months — until project completion. Following one project, you may transition to another site for a similar duration. Candidates must be able to travel between Mexico and the U.S. for training sessions and occasional in-person meetings as needed.
Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. Our main office is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning.
The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
Approximately 75% of site time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
