Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking an enthusiastic and self-motivated On-Site Physical Security Specialist to work on our Honolulu Rail Project, located on-site in Pearl City, HI 

Job Description Overview:

The On-Site Security Specialist will support the Security Manager in overseeing and coordinating security operations for the Honolulu Project. This role involves assisting in the development of security strategies, conducting audits, managing communication during security incidents, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The On-Site Security Specialist will report directly to the Security Manager and serve as a critical link between security personnel and management.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support:

  • Assist in monitoring daily security operations and ensure adherence to Physical Security procedures.
  • Support the management and supervision of internal and external personnel assigned to site surveillance.
  • Participate in the execution of security audits, site inspections, and drills to ensure compliance with established guidelines.

Incident Management:

  • Aid in the prompt communication and escalation of security incidents to the Security Manager.
  • Help coordinate responses to security breaches and system failures, ensuring timely corrective actions are taken

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing summary reports and analyses of security events for review by the Security Manager.
  • Contribute to the development and regular review of Security Threat and Impact Assessments and related documentation.

Training and Development:

  • Support the organization and delivery of training sessions for security personnel.
  • Participate in staff development initiatives and assist in implementing training programs aligned with company values.

System Management:

  • Help ensure the proper use of security software platforms (PSIM, CCTV, Access Control) by staff.
  • Support the administrative management of security contracts and maintenance services.

Compliance and Improvement:

  • Assist in verifying compliance with company security rules and procedures.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of improvement projects within the security framework.

On-call Support:

  • Provide on-call support during day, night, and weekend shifts when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in security operations, maintenance, or management of security systems/facilities. Experience in complex industrial environments is preferred

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in security management systems and software.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Security Manager in developing and implementing the Project Security Plan.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned, including acting as a liaison between security teams and management.
  • Promote Hitachi’s ethos, culture, and values within the security team and broader organization
  • This role is essential for maintaining a secure environment at the Honolulu Project and contributes significantly to the overall safety strategy of the organization.

Education:

High school diploma or GED equivalent

In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.

The salary range for this position is $83,000- $125,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
