On Call Researcher

The expected hiring range for this position is:

$30.00-$115.00.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such the scope and responsibilities of the position, qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.

About the Role:

Fermilab's ARD group has a demand for an On Call Researcher to support our physics and benchmarking studies of the IOTA ring. This researcher would also assist us in expanding the proton-physics program at IOTA in new directions, e.g. soliton generation and measurement and longitudinal manipulations of intense bunches.

What your day-to-day as an On Call Researcher at Fermilab will look like:

  • Coordinating and assisting in preparing materials for reviews, special reports, and studies for the area and various committees requiring discretion, high level confidentiality, an expert level of understanding of technical and business vocabulary, and a detailed knowledge of the area of operations, procedures, and people.
  • Creating or modifying ad-hoc queries. Working on special projects which may involve meetings or committees.
  • Performing office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of the laboratory.
  • Exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect of matters of significance.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Abiding by being responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.


Essential Competencies and Attributes for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a specialized area or equivalent based on assignment.


Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Primary duty requiring advanced knowledge, work requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.
  • Advanced knowledge must be in a field of science or learning.
  • Subject matter expertise in business area or department function.

  • Onsite: This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia office.
