Summary of Duties

As a Support Staff you will:

  • Provides administrative and clerical support to DHS Office of Contracts and Procurement staff and managers.

  • Identifies information needs and coordinates with involved parties to ensure information is obtained.

  • Review request forms and other documents for compliance with established standards and ensures all necessary documentation is provided and complete, if not, returns request form for correction.

  • Receive incoming telephone calls and either responds to requested information or directs the calls to the appropriate staff for further action.

  • Receive mail and correspondence, reviews for actions required, and delivers to appropriate staff members.

  • Organizes and maintains contracts, inventory, and purchasing filing systems, controls records of information received, routed, assigned or dispersed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents;

  • An associate degree in any field; 

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Demonstrated culturally responsive communication with diverse populations across multiple channels—including over the phone, in person, and via email.

  • Experience using computers and Microsoft applications—including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams or other software applications.

  • Experience using OregonBuys eProcurement system.

  • Experience prioritizing tasks under pressure, adapts quickly to changes, and meets deadlines with high-quality results.

  • Experience reviewing work for accuracy and performing quality checks using policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

  • Work Locations: In-person - office environment. 

  • Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

  • Employee must have the ability to work with a high degree of independence.

  • Employee may have to perform important projects under short timelines and competing priorities.

  • Typical office environment working at a desk with data entry. In office cubicle that also has a main line to answer calls.

  • The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship.   • The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.
