Primary Capital Advisory

Houlihan Lokey Primary Capital Advisory (“PCA”) is an established and growing player in the third-party fund placement and advisory space and part of a leading global investment bank. PCA has an experienced team of over 40 people across six offices in the U.S. and Europe who have collectively worked on over 300 fundraises since 2010 across a wide array of private equity fundraising.

Responsibilities

As an Intern in Houlihan Lokey Primary Capital Advisory team, you will be involved in:

  • The provision of strategic advice to clients related to the positioning of alternative asset brands in the market for sustained competitive advantage.
  • The production of core fund marketing documentation (investor presentation, DDQ, etc.) with bespoke analyses.
  • The management of fundraising processes, including investor tracking and client communication.
  • The completion of due diligence materials in response to inquiries from potential fund investors.
  • The origination of new opportunities, including meeting potential clients and the production of pitch materials and associated analyses.
  • New mandate selection through extensive due diligence, as part of a rigorous internal process.

Basic Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have private equity fundraising experience, acquired at a reputable placement agent or within the investor relations team of a leading private equity firm. Candidates with prior experience in investment banking or transaction services from reputable institutions will also be considered.

In addition, the candidate shall have strong work ethics, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. While teamwork is essential to the firm’s success, creativity and new ideas are encouraged. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program with a focus on finance, accounting or management, at a top tier business school or university.
  • Experience in private equity fundraising from a placement agent or investor relations team, and/or experience in investment banking or transaction services.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Superior analytical skills and ability to solve problems and provide solutions using data.
  • Pro-active and resourceful attitude of solving problems independently, with the support of an experienced senior team.
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate a variety of different projects with an organized approach.
  • Good grasp of the fundamentals of the private equity industry, including current trends, deal structures, investor requirements, and competitive landscapes.
  • Fluency in French and English, and ideally strong written and verbal communication skills in another European language (preferably Spanish or German).
