Job Description:
Occupational Therapy Assistant - PRN
The certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) will treat patients; maintain communication with doctors and other health personnel, supervise aides, volunteers, support staff, and students under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
Job Duties:
- Documents treatment interventions, response and progress in the patient’s electronic medical record.
- Communicates change in status, patient progress and goal achievement with an occupational therapist.
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending discharge disposition and assistive equipment needs.
- Provides services to improve functional independence and/or reduce pain such as: Therapeutic procedures/exercises or activities to promote ROM, strength, coordination, balance, functional mobility (bed mobility and transfers), ADL training (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, etc.), visual perceptual training, cognitive training, or splinting.
Requirements:
- Associate degree or higher in Occupational Therapy
- Current Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by the Kentucky State Board of Occupational Therapy or temporary certification and eligible for certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by the Kentucky State Board of Occupational Therapy.
