About the opportunity

The Occupational Therapy department at WMH offers a supportive environment that promotes a culture of learning and development, with various opportunities for career progression. The friendly WMH OT teams consists of 31 dedicated clinicians who currently provide client centered, occupational therapy services within the emergency department, short stay unit, acute, subacute, Hospital in the Home/Gem@Home, community (Health Independence Program and Commonwealth Home support Program) and outpatient hand therapy services.

  • The HITH/Gem@Home AH team provides short term rehabilitation to appropriate clients in their home.

  • The HITH / Gem@home AH team is a team of OT, Physio, SW, Dietetics and Allied Health Assistants.

  • The HITH/Gem@Home OT has strong links to the acute inpatient OT team, with an established professional supervision structure in place.

  • The Grade 2 Occupational Therapist provides quality, evidence based, person-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary care team to the allocated caseload.

  • This position provides clinical support to Grade 1 staff and assistance with the day-to-day operations within the designated area.

  • This position contributes to service development and leadership within the inpatient OT service.  

  • Supervision is provided by a Grade 3 occupational therapist, and the role includes appropriate supervision opportunities.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and current, full Occupational Therapy registration with AHPRA

  • Minimum of 2 years strong clinical skills/experience; subacute care with neurological/stroke care an advantage.

  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.

  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

  • Full drivers licence.


You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Poof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
