• Annual base salary $121,045 pro-rata (HEW Level 7) with market loading $4,581 pro-rata and 17% superannuation
• Paternity leave replacement for Terms 2, 3 and 4 of 2026 – part-time, 3 days/21 hours a week
• Onsite at Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus (North Ryde)

About the role

Reporting to the Principal of MUSEC School, you will work closely with other members of the Allied Health Team, Special Education Teachers and Classroom Assistants to support students to engage in learning programs, increasing their functional independence.

As the school-based Occupational Therapist you will regularly liaise with caregivers, staff and external health professionals involved with each child. Playing an active role, you will also supervise and support students in the classroom, playground and on excursions to help them develop independence and social skills.

Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC) is an Independent School based at Macquarie University providing high quality education to primary students with mild to moderate intellectual disability, autism and language. MUSEC School offers both academic and life skills programs. We have small classes, personalised education programs and well qualified staff. Essential Criteria

  • A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy, and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

  • Experience in the use of assessment and intervention to develop capabilities to increase independence in everyday tasks

  • Monitor and collect data on student progress and evaluate interventions or programs

  • An ability to provide a wide range of occupational therapy programs and interventions to assist children with a disability to participate in the school curriculum

  • Provide small group/ individual occupational therapy programs within the classroom

  • High levels of interpersonal skills to liaise with parents, students, teachers, other professionals and external therapists to support the implementation of occupational therapy strategies relevant to the school environment
