About the Role
This is a permanent opportunity, starting with a three-year customised graduate development program. You will rotate across various specialised departments at our aluminium smelter in Portland, Victoria. Stay connected with your community, hobbies, friends & family! Our sites are all within driving distance; achieve the ultimate balance in life without having to miss out on hands-on site experiences.
What you’ll be doing
As a Occupational Hygiene Graduate at Alcoa, you will learn, grow, and develop hands-on experience and expertise in:
Providing occupational hygiene advice to the site
Monitoring and reviewing performance measures, safety activities and identify improvement strategies
Developing and deployment of initiatives and projects across the site
Audits – conducting them, following up documents and correction actions
Development and mentoring
Throughout the program, you will be provided with:

If you are on the path to graduate by the end of 2026 or have recently completed tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a related discipline, we want to hear from you!

About the Location
Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%). Alcoa manages the day-to-day operations at the smelter and we produce approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s total aluminium production in Portland.
