Job Summary: About the Position: Serves as an Occupational Health (OH) Technician performing screening, clinical testing, and administrative functions in support of the Occupational Health Clinic. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major Duties:

  • Provides Occupational health services to military and civilian employees to include supporting the care and treatment of illness, injury and programs of health examination, screening, counseling and education.
  • Prepares patients for and conducts occupational health screenings in the OH Clinic during in-processing and out-processing visits, preplacement exams, medical surveillance, and other required OH exams.
  • Performs a variety of administrative and automated support functions: Compiles information from records maintained, telephone contacts, written communications, and schedules appointments.
  • Screens employees during initial, periodic, and termination occupational health evaluations.
  • Maintains all occupational health records and files by coding diagnostic and operative/procedural information.
  • Provides/promotes employee health and safety training to occupationally exposed employees/service members both individually during medical surveillance screening and during work-site health education programs.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: conducting occupational health screenings (e.g., vitals, vision, immunization review, etc.), counseling patients on test results, providing administrative support such as patient scheduling (e.g., scheduling preplacement and medical surveillance exams) and maintaining occupational health records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
