Introduction

The Occupational Health and Safety Inspector (Inspektor BHP) is a key member of the internal Health and Safety Service (służba BHP) responsible for advisory and control functions in the workplace. This role is mandated by Polish labor law for employers with more than 100 employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and inspect working conditions and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Report identified occupational hazards and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare periodic analyses of workplace safety and suggest improvements.
  • Participate in planning and reviewing investments and organizational changes from a safety perspective.
  • Develop and update internal safety policies and instructions.
  • Participate in accident investigations and maintain related documentation.
  • Advise on risk assessment and recommend preventive measures.
  • Organize and conduct health and safety training for employees.
  • Collaborate with occupational health physicians and environmental laboratories.
  • Participate in safety committees and promote a culture of safety.

Required Qualifications and Legal Requirements

• Minimum education: Secondary or post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety (Technik BHP).
• Completion of a specialized training course for Health and Safety Service employees (minimum 32 hours).
• Periodic refresher training every 5 years.
• Knowledge of Polish labor law and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Regulation of the Minister of Economy and Labor of 27 July 2004 on training in the field of occupational health and safety (Dz.U. 2024 item 1327).
