Summary
Provides general nutrition education in hospital or community settings, individually or in groups. Collaborates with patients, families, and other staff to plan, develop, and implement intermediate and moderate levels of nutrition therapy.Job Description
Food Services and Nutrition Therapy parameters meet the therapeutic nutritional needs of both children and adult patients. This support enhances the efficient operation of the room service program. Ability to recognize, evaluates, and provide for nutritional needs based on cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs. Works closely with clinical dietitians to follow through on implementation of individual nutritional plans of care for patients who are at high nutritional risk. Recommends diet changes and vitamin/mineral supplementation to physicians and other primary providers as indicated to improve nutrition status and assure nutrient adequacy for the patient. Serves as a liaison to clinical dietitians; participates in interdisciplinary patient rounds and discharge planning processes, communicates relevant facts and concerns with assigned clinical dietitians. Interprets, executes and delivers nutritional care according to diet parameters to ensure quality nutritional care on delegated patient care units. Assists patients in making appropriate selections of foods to meet therapeutic intake guidelines. Conducts patient assessments and screening to determine level of malnutrition risk according to Nutrition Therapy guidelines. Conducts patient nutrition education for individuals and/or groups as assigned. Within the community settings, provide nutrition education talks or nutrition promotion programs to people of all ages.Qualifications
