Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Nutrition Assistant of Food Services provides quality food and nutritional services to Marshall Medical Center’s patients.  Working independently to ensure patient food preferences, food allergies and diet restrictions are correct when processing diet orders, meal preferences, assembling and delivering trays.  The Nutrition Assistant verifies the interface of the prescribed diet with the Food Service Software and Electronic Medical Record system.  The Nutrition Assistant is passionate about food service and hospitality, demonstrates service commitment and enjoys 1:1 contact with patients.  This position serves as a liaison between Nursing, Speech Therapy, Dietitian and Food Service departments, handling patient complaints, food issues and basic questions about meals and diets.  In addition, this position performs accurate clerical support to the Food Services department such as meal records, logs and files and assists as needed with staff scheduling, food service-related duties such as food preparation, assistance in the cafeteria and dish washing. Consistently adheres to the proper safety and sanitation guidelines.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College level nutritional courses strongly preferred

 Knowledge:

  • Previous experience with special modified diets required
  • Must be able to multi-task in an active and dynamic environment with frequent interruptions
  • Experience in Food and Nutrition Services (preferably hospital) preferred
  • Working knowledge of CBORD systems, Epic and Microsoft products, including Windows, Word and Excel, strongly preferred.
