Major Responsibilities
- Provides direction and support to nurse leaders at all sites of care to help the leaders execute the enterprise nursing strategic plan in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring achievement of targeted outcomes.
- Oversees the development and implementation of enterprise-wide nursing processes by collaborating with nurse leaders on planning, execution, and reporting of clinical and corporate performance, with a focus on optimal quality and cost containment in accordance with the strategic plan.
- Monitors progress and assess risks for nursing-led initiatives, working closely with nurse leaders and the performance management team to leverage business intelligence data and improve operational best practices at the site level.
- Mentors site level nursing leaders on performance improvement activities and sustainment in response to improvement events.
- Serves as the expert in operational and capital budgets for nursing leaders and partners with hospital nurse leaders to support effective resource allocation and stewardship at each site of care where nursing services are delivered.
- Supports the implementation of nursing operational excellence and standard work throughout the organization by empowering nurse leaders to adopt best practices and drive continuous improvement across all care settings.
- Fosters strong, collaborative partnerships between nursing and other functional areas—including HR, Quality, Compliance, IT, and Finance—to support nurse leaders in achieving strong operational performance. Builds credibility and trust across the system nursing enterprise through effective communication with hospital CNOs, CEOs, clinical staff, corporate peers, and boards.
- Coordinates and manages nursing finance at the enterprise level, serving as a resource and expert to nurse leaders to ensure alignment of stewardship and nursing resources with organizational priorities.
- Leads initiatives to improve nursing workflows, resource allocation, and patient throughput, ensuring optimal staffing and operational efficiency.
- Models ethical decision-making, integrity, and accountability in alignment with the ANA Code of Ethics and AONL standards, setting an example for nurse leaders at all sites of care.
- Promotes nursing excellence by supporting nurse leaders in pursuing Magnet and Pathway principles, encouraging professional development, and advancing evidence-based practice throughout the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Masters in related field; or Bachelor’s degree and a Masters in Nursing or Master’s in Business.
Certification / Registration / License
- Active registered nurse (RN) license in states of practice and Leadership Certification required within 1 year.
Experience
- Five years of direct-patient-care nursing experience. Typically requires 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare leadership.

- Excellent written and oral communications including strong presentation/speaking skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership and staff
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, critical-thinking and decisions-making skills

- Ability to work collaboratively with others from multi-disciplines and levels of the organization
- Proven record to navigate change implementation and execute on strategic planning
- Ability to foresee and quickly resolve operational and organizational issues that have system impact
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft office suite or similar applications
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
