We are looking for a highly driven individual to be part of HSA’s Blood Resources Division- Blood bank team, where you will play a key role in supporting the National Blood Programme (NBP). In this front-facing role, the Nursing Officer will work closely in a dynamic team to maintain and uphold operational efficiencies, safety and quality standards of our blood collection centres’ at the highest levels.

[What you will be working on]

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Whole Blood and Apheresis collection programmes
    • Whole Blood: Collection of blood in its complete form, not separated into its various components.
    • Apheresis: An automated process where plasma, platelets or red cells in the blood drawn is separated and remaining components are returned to donor during the donation process
  • Lead training and coach blood collection staff in their work responsibilities
  • Conduct competency and proficiency assessments and testing
  • Support quality management activities such conducting validation and participate in Blood Bank audits to meet accreditation standards
  • Provide clinical support in donor management activities such as medical screening and management of blood donor complications.
  • Work closely with management to ensure seamless operations of all collection centres
  • Conduct research and participate/lead project initiatives (clinical/process improvement focus)

Requirements:

  • Minimum Advanced Diploma or Degree in Nursing with minimum 10 years of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse in recognised healthcare setting(s), of which 2 years must be as an Assistant Nurse Clinician (ANC) and above.
  • Must hold valid Nursing registration certificate with Singapore Nursing Board
  • Previous experience with leading operational teams in a management role is required.
  • Able to commit to weekend duties. Team members will be rostered to support morning, afternoon and weekend shifts, across a 5-day work week and are not required to perform night shift.
