POSITION PURPOSE
Nursing Education Specialist: Full-time opportunity for a Master’s Prepared RN to support Employee Education and the Nursing Residency Program at Trinity Health Ann Arbor.
The Nursing Education Specialist provides leadership and expertise for the design, implementation and evaluation of nursing education. Facilitates and supports Trinity Health Michigan staff competency through teaching, consultation, collaboration and practice using current knowledge, research and technology. Incorporates Trinity Health mission goals and values, as well as Trinity Health Michigan strategic objectives and quality initiatives, into educational programs promoting the integration of these aspects in the education and development of staff. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Promotes the growth and development of TRINITY HEALTH MICHIGAN staff competency enabling them to assume full accountability for their functioning by expertly using adult learning principles and effective methods of educational design.
Coaches and mentors educators who are new to their roles.
Analyzes data, collected through formal and informal methods, to determine system educational needs.
Leads teams to set direction for educational planning and staff competency based on health care standards, regulatory agency requirements, new programs/services, and evolving projects/initiatives.
Leads teams to set direction for educational planning based on organizational goals, staff needs and patient populations considering age specific, developmental level, diverse cultural and spiritual needs.
Designs educational programs and outcomes for TRINITY HEALTH MICHIGAN based on assessment data, integrating Trinity Health Services Mission, Values and Strategic Plan.
Educates and mentors planners in the use of the TRINITY HEALTH MICHIGAN WNA CEAP/ANCC Provider Unit educational design criteria to develop nursing continuing education activities for contact hours.
Effectively markets education programs to staff across TRINITY HEALTH MICHIGAN.
Designs, teaches, coordinates and evaluates educational programs using creative teaching/learning strategies, adult learning principles, and effective teaching modalities (including e-learning and simulation) to achieve TRINITY HEALTH MICHIGAN expected outcomes in a cost-effective manner.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the overall educational plan and individual educational programs for impact on organizational achievement of goals and objectives.
Collaborates with affiliating schools to establish and maintain contracts; designs and provides faculty orientation; and arranges appropriate student placements across TRINITY HEALTH MICHIGAN education programs for nurses and other health care providers.
Maintains TRINITY HEALTH MICHIGAN relationships with accreditation bodies such as the WNA CEAP and the American Heart Association.
MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current Michigan Nursing License
Education: Master’s degree in nursing required.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ clinical nursing or leadership experience at the unit level in a related health care setting.
Computer skills: word, power point, excel. CPR instructor trainer certification
