Martin North Hospital is looking to add a Nurse Manager to the team who will cover both the 12-bed 2nd floor and 18-bed 3rd floor of the South Tower. This includes the newly established Med/Surg unit on the 2nd floor that cares for a wide range of patients with a variety of medical issues or who are preparing for or recovering from surgery. In this role, you will manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nurse care on these units as well as establish clinical direction for nursing care delivery. Through collaboration with other caregivers and use of your strong critical thinking, multitasking, and nursing skills, you will help to ensure proper patient care from start to finish. Ultimately, your dedication and leadership will help enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience for everyone, whether they are patients, visitors, or fellow caregivers.
A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
Develop and maintain unit-related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement.
Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs and mix.
Provide direction and supervision, evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination process and develop strategic plans.
Actively promote staff and self-development.
Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products.
Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes.
Assist in the development and monitoring of budget.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Three years of recent clinical nursing experience including at least one year of healthcare management experience
High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Strong med/surg and telemetry background
Prior leadership experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination.
Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking.
Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
