Job Description

The Nurse Assistant performs routine duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the hospitalized patient.  The care is rendered under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.  Performs other duties related to the work described herein.

Training and Education:

High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.  Completion of an approved nursing assistant course preferred.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

CPR/BLS

Physical Requirements:

The following scale is related to the below requirements:  Occasionally: 1-33%; Frequently: 34-66%; Continuously: 67-100%.

Ability to perform job duties while sitting (Occasionally).  Ability to perform job duties while Walking (Frequently).  Ability to perform job duties while standing (continuously).  Ability to perform job duties while bending (Occasionally).  Ability to perform job duties while Squatting (Occasionally).  Ability to climb stairs (Occasionally).  Ability to perform job duties while Kneeling (Occasionally).  Ability to Twist at the waist (Occasionally).  Ability to lift 0-50 lbs. (Occasionally).  Ability to lift 50+ lbs. with assistance (Occasionally).  Ability to carry 0-50 lbs. (Occasionally).  Ability to carry 50+ lbs. with assistance (Occasionally).  Ability to push 0-300 lbs. (Occasionally).  Must be able to see with corrective eye wear.  Must be able to hear clearly with assistance.  May be in contact with patients under a variety of circumstances.  Must be able to handle emergency and crisis situations.  May be occasionally subject to irregular hours.  May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary.  May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements:   Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant, or equivalent training. Credentials:  Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
