GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job provides supervision of staff and area functions as well as may serve as a physician liaison. This job provides support of coordination of staff and area functions; may serve as a physician liaison. This job performs various nuclear imaging procedures and therapies in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as a mentor for new staff and uses technical expertise to improve staff performance.  Assists in the management of human resources (performance management), staff/equipment schedule, payroll, and non-labor expenses and activities for the department.  Maintains a quality assurance program outlined by regulatory agencies to meet requirements.  (40%)
  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately for independent nuclear medicine imaging. Prepares for and assists physician relative to procedures in nuclear imaging.  Orders, prepares, administers, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols. (25%)
  • Implements radiation protection and safety standards and provides technical expertise for development of protocols. Implements and standardizes imaging protocols in coordination with radiation physics and division directors. (15%)
  • Completes all required documentation for procedures, e.g. regulatory, billing protocol and image distribution.  Maintains ACR certification and registries (if applicable). Implements and educates staff on all imaging institute policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality initiatives for Nuclear Medicine modality.  (20%)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or required 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of associate’s degree
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or ARRT (NM) certification.
  • 3 years as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Prior leadership experience.
