Essentia Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our well-established and growing Nephrology team in Fargo, North Dakota. This role offers the opportunity to practice within one of the largest and most diverse nephrology patient populations in the Upper Midwest, while working in a highly collaborative, physician-led environment. You will join a cohesive department of three nephrologists and two advanced practice clinicians, supported by experienced clinic and dialysis staff. Our team delivers comprehensive kidney care across the continuum, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hypertension, glomerular disorders, and end-stage renal disease. Care is provided across outpatient clinic and dialysis center settings, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration. This position serves a large regional catchment area across North Dakota and Minnesota, providing meaningful opportunities to expand access to specialty kidney care in both urban and rural communities. The role includes travel to established outreach sites, supporting continuity of care and strengthening regional nephrology services.

  • Full-time (1.0 FTE); Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • No call responsibilities
  • Adult outpatient nephrology practice with integrated telehealth
  • Average 15–20 patient visits per day
  • Practice across clinic and dialysis environments
  • Outreach to Park Rapids, Detroit Lakes, Jamestown, Wahpeton, and Moorhead
  • Collaborative practice with nephrologists, dialysis nurses, social workers, and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Opportunities to participate in quality initiatives, clinical optimization, and regional kidney care advancement
  • North Dakota and Minnesota licensure required

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. The NP/PA will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. Position requires a high level of patient-centered skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
