Job Summary:

Provides technical support in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to clients of MercyOne Medical Center. Technical support includes the preparation and delivery of medications and sterile products, stocking and  ordering of drugs and other products. Technical work is performed under continual supervision of a licensed pharmacist or Certified Pharmacy Technician

What you will do:

  • Receives training in the inpatient, outpatient, and medication history pharmacy departments and observes other specialized pharmacy technician duties 
  • Prepares patient medication orders in outpatient and inpatient pharmacy settings  
  • Charges and credits to the patient and restocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy. 
  • Checks medication expiration dates and completes assigned unit inspections 
  • Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure. 
  • Answers telephone and processes requests according to procedures. 
  • Accurately and efficiently waits on patients at the POS register and handles sales transactions in the outpatient pharmacy 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Registered with the State of Iowa as a Tech in Training within the first week of employment.
