How You Will Contribute:
• Serve as the first line of defense in our 24x7 Network Operations Center
• Monitor network performance, system health, and application availability
• Ensure timely response to alerts and incidents according to established procedures
• Support service availability and customer satisfaction through proactive monitoring
• Maintain accurate documentation of all incidents and actions taken
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
• Monitor network performance, particularly on Optical Networking Platforms (e.g., Ciena,
Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei) using advanced NMS/EMS systems.
• Identify and assess alarm conditions from systems such as CDC, Datacenter Interconnect, or
Submarine Cable systems.
• Utilize runbooks to execute first-level troubleshooting, ensuring documented procedures are
followed for L2/L3 DCN support.
Alert Management & Escalation:
• Validate alerts using defined criteria and escalate unresolved incidents with appropriate
documentation.
• Support network maintenance activities, including executing network rollouts and migrations
under direction.
Documentation & Reporting:
• Create, update, and maintain clear and concise incident logs and runbooks.
• Assist with the monitoring of network equipment and documentation of daily NOC operations.
Continuous Learning:
• Actively participate in training initiatives to develop skills in advanced optical communications.
Experience and Assets:
Required Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in IT or related field preferred
• 0-2 years of experience in a technical support role
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience with ticketing systems and monitoring tools
• Customer service experience
Knowledge/Abilities:
• Basic understanding of Optical Technology (e.g., Long haul, Ultra Long haul, fixed/flexible grid
networks) and related network layers (Layer 0/1/Ciena, etc.).
• Familiarity with NMS/EMS, API, OSS and fundamental network protocols (Ethernet, MPLSTP/IP).
• Experience working on Linux/Unix/Solaris systems.
Assets:
• BS/B-Tech/BE in Electronics, Telecommunication, or related fields.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a team-oriented setting and excellent
customer service.
Working Conditions:
• 24x7 operation environment
• May require on-call rotation
• Shift work may be required
• Must be able to work under pressure
